Las Fallas, 15 to 19 March
Valencia guide · 4 min read
A practical guide to Valencia’s Fallas: dates, the mascletà, the Nit del Foc, the cremà and why to stay by the beach those days.
What they are
Las Fallas is Valencia’s great festival, listed by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016. Hundreds of cardboard and wood monuments, some several storeys high, fill the streets and burn on the last night.
Key dates
The main days run from 15 to 19 March. The plantà, when the monuments go up, is the night of the 15th to 16th. The mascletà thunders every day at 14:00 in the City Hall square from 1 to 19 March. The Nit del Foc is on the night of the 18th and the cremà on the 19th.
Why sleep by the beach
The centre is packed with people, music and firecrackers day and night. On Passeig de Neptú you sleep more calmly, and the centre is about 20 minutes away by metro, tram or taxi.
Book early
It is the busiest week of the year in Valencia. If you see free dates in the search, take them: booking direct gives you 10% off.
